The taskbar in Windows 10 is about to get a new look and functionality that will help you be more productive. News and Interests, a feature designed to help you keep up to date by taking a look at all the stuff that matters most to you, will be available in Windows 10 over the next few weeks. 

News and Interests is now housed in a new hover-over centre in the Taskbar that also houses the weather, much as it was when it was in beta testing with Windows Insiders over the last few months. When you hover your cursor over the hub, you'll see a curated mini array of tiles with information that matters to you, such as the full weather forecast, top news headlines, stocks, traffic, and even sports scores.

You don't even need to open an app to get what you need to know; everything you need is right at your fingertips. That's why Microsoft touts the feature as the quickest way to keep your Windows 10 PC up to date.

“Catching up on the things that matter to us should be easy. Despite this, we're always juggling computers, switching between websites, and searching multiple outlets before finding what we're looking for. According to Microsoft's Aaron Woodman, "news and preferences on the Windows taskbar simplifies this process by providing a simple and customised experience based around you. "News and Interests, like the rest of Windows 10, is completely customizable and can even be disabled. You can customise your experience by changing the information cards and how weather forecasts are shown. You may also choose whether to see the weather as an icon or as text.

You can also customise which information cards you see, such as finance, sports, or traffic, to ensure that you only see the information that matters to you. Customization options are available via the Microsoft News interests manager, which you can modify to indicate the topics or sources concern you.

Since it was first unveiled and reviewed with Windows Insiders, Microsoft has made several changes to News and Interests in the taskbar, including more personalization options, better design, and enlarged markets. Microsoft has stated that it welcomes additional input from users.
