Director Cibichakravarthi's “DON” is a good mix of fun and emotions.
This is a story of an Engineering student who is not interested in studies put in a college by his father, there is unlimited fun as well as emotions.
Sivakarthikeyan plays the role of “Chakravarthi”, who is a fun-loving guy known by the name Don in his college, the last half an hour of the movie shows the serious face of Chakravarthi who wants to shine as a Cinema Director.
Samuthrakani plays the role of Chakravarthi's father, who is strict and wants his son to become an Engineer. In the initial portion of the movie, Samuthrakani seems to be a villain to his son. The emotional tie between the son and father is shown at end of the movie by Cibichakravarthi.
Priya Arul Mohan is the heroine and plays the role in the name "Angaiyarkanni".
The romantic portion of the movie is good, it is school time love between Chakravarthi and Angaiyarkanni. Chakaravarthi's naughtiness in the school and the heroines' entry to the same college where Chakaravarthi is studying made a romantic turn to the storyline.
SJ Surya made the film more interesting, he plays the role of Professor Bhoomi, who is head of the disciplinary committee and fantastically portrays the real scenes happening in the colleges.
The two characters “Arivu and Azhagu” exactly display the pathetic condition of Professors in the college who are expected to do things like checking ID cards and dress codes apart from teaching.
Soori called “Perusu” plays the role of photographer and is a close friend to the hero in the movie. Chakravarthi takes his friend to meet the disciplinary committee of the college. The fun they make over there left the audience with a laugh even after the scene is over.
The naughtiness of the students and strike for a good hostel food is bringing back the memories of college days.
The graduation day message from Chakravarthi is a brilliant work of the director.
The overall message of this movie is forgiveness and self-exploration of talent can make one shine better in life.
The BGM by Anirudh is good.
The songs in the movie are good, many kids started dancing especially to the song “Hey Jala Bula Jungu”.
The Cinematography and Editing were excellent.
If a rating is given on a five scale, DON stands at 4/5
