 1. Sloths can mistake their arms for tree branches, which is not good! Some sloths have been known to clutch their own arms, mistaking them for tree branches and then falling to their deaths. 

2. They take their time going to the bathroom. Sloths have an average of one bowel movement every week. When they eventually perform , they can excrete up to a third of their body weight. Sloths not only walk slowly, but they're not in a rush.

3. However, sloths aren't always slow! When it comes to amusing facts about sloths, you might be shocked to find that they move three times quicker in water than on land! How does a sloth prefer to swim? Their preferred swimming style is backstroke. 

 4. Sloths do not smell. Sloths do not stink (or sweat) in order to avoid detection by predators. However, just because they don't smell does not imply they're not dirty! Sloths' hairy coverings provide a comfortable home for numerous insect, algal, and bug colonies. 

5. Sloths Used to Be Giant—Really! Ancient giant sloths, known as Megatherium, were said to grow up to 7 metres tall, weighed around 7 tonnes, and had a quite hostile personality. The Natural History Museum in London now houses a full-scale Megatherium skeleton.

 6. Think You're Flexible? Not compared to a sloth! Amazingly, the three-toed sloth can spin its head nearly 360 degrees! This keeps them safe and protected by providing them with an accurate vision of their whole environment. 

7. Sloths Give Birth in an Unusual Way. Sloths give birth while hanging upside down. Before giving birth, the mother would descend to tree branches at a lower elevation. This manner, even if the infant falls, they will notThey will not fall too far. And if they fall to the ground, the mother will be able to easily retrieve and protect her young. 

8. Sloths really enjoy hanging around upside down. Sloths are built upside down! Well, sort of. Sloths spend an unusual amount of time hanging upside down, which is only possible because their primary organs are linked to their rib cage, preventing them from compressing their lungs. 

9. Sloths do not sleep as much as you may think. The sloths' enjoyment of a long nap is simply a fallacy; recent research in Panama's forests has proven that sloths only sleep 8 to 10 hours each day, much like us. 

10.  It is true—you could probably beat a sloth in a race. A sloth will race you along the jungle floor at a dazzling speed of roughly 4 metres per minute!
