Toners are often considered to be unnecessary or an additional step to any skincare routine. But is it true ??
Hey everyone hope you are doing well, and thank you for reading my blog.
So what does a toner do to our skin apart from providing us the boost of hydration. A toner is considered to be a pH adjuster of our skin. Our skin's pH is generally 5.5 but if we check our tap water pH with the help of a litmus paper you can see that it's pH is coming to be as 7 to 8 which is alkaline. And when we wash our face with that water it disrupts the pH balance of our skin, which can harm your skin not now but in the long run and can also make your skin dry and dehydrated with the passage of time.
To combat the pH issue , we use a toner to adjust our skin's natural pH. You can avoid this step if you wash your face with mineral or distilled water. But I think no one does the latter one.
Different toners had been curated for different skin types according to their skin's specific needs.
I personally being a dry dehydrated skin type like incorporating hydrating toner in my skincare routine.
I like using the Laneige skin refiner toner. It's consistency is water like , it gets absorbed into the skin easily without feeling sticky and it is fragrance and essential oil free . I like my leave on skincare products to be fragrance free. It is a bit pricey but 150ml bottle is going to last you long. You can get your hands on it from nykaa at a discount price always. I don't use a cotton pad for applying the toner. I generally take few drops in my hand and pat it in my entire face and follow up with my serum and Moisturiser.
The next toner I love is the Rovictin essence. I got it from skin bae a instagram page and recently nykaa has launched it too. It contains ceramides and five different kinds of hyaluronic acid which provides us with intense boost of hydration. It is fragrance free and comes in 100 ml and 180ml bottle.
I also like using the cosrx advance snail mucin. It contains 96% of pure snail mucin. If you are having fungal acne try to avoid it or do a patch test before using it. It's a korean skincare comes in a 100ml bottle. It's a bit slimy and sticky but gets absorbed into the skin easily. Not only it provides hydration but has anti ageing properties too.it will also help you to get rid of your acne scars and hyperpigmentation if used consistently.I got mine from maccron beauty but recently nykaa has also launched it. It's a cruelty free brand. They don't kill any snail for the extraction process. They lay a wire mesh and keep all the snails over it and let the snail secreate the mucin for the entire day or two and then they remove the snails and keep them in their respective place. And this is how they get the snail mucin.
If you are having oily skin you can try the superdrug toner its affordable and fragrance free as well. Available in nykaa.
Toners can be also incorporate with Exfoliating properties such that it can contain AHA , BHA, PHA. so that it can remove skin's dead cells in a gentle but effective manner, without disrupting our skin's natural barrier.
For recommendations I have the cosrx 7% AHA toner also known as glycolic acid it is beginners friends especially curated for dry skin type, comes in a 100ml bottle and to be used at night time only and make sure not to use any active serum in that particular skincare regime and follow up with a broad spectrum SPF the next day.
In the affordable category I have the option be minimalist biotic toner it contains PHA and is considered to be as the gentlest among them all. You can get your hands on it from nykaa beauty.
That's all for today. Follow for more.
