According to the Hindu calendar, the fifth month of the year is dedicated to Mahadev, the god of gods. This year, the month of Sawan (Sawan 2022) started on July 14th and will continue until August 11th. This month, the devotees of Shiva will be absorbed in the worship of Bholenath. This year only 4 Monday are available in Sawan. Fasting on the Monday of the month of Sawan is believed to bring special benefits. In the month of Sawan, certain rules related to food must be respected. So let us know what are the things that are forbidden to eat during the month of Sawan.

Onion and Garlic

It is best to eat only Sattwic food during the Sawan fast. It is forbidden to eat garlic and onions during this period. Onions and garlic are considered tamasic foods. The effect of onion and garlic is spicy, if taken on an empty stomach, it can cause stomach problems.

Meat, fish, and eggs

It is forbidden to eat all types of non-vegetarian food like meat, chicken, eggs, and fish during the month of Sawan. The scientific reason is that the month of Sawan is rainy. During this time, there is moisture in the environment, so mold, mildew, and fungal infections begin to develop. Fungi and germs grow quickly on things like meat and fish, so eating them is not recommended. Due to rain, people's digestive system is also weakened and it takes time to digest non-vegetarian food. Therefore, it is forbidden to eat non-vegetarian food during the month of Sawan.

Eggplant

Eggplant is not considered a pure product in Hindu scriptures. When it comes to religious and spiritual occasions, it is considered unfavorable. Therefore, consumption of eggplant should be avoided throughout the month of Sawan. The scientific reason for this is that during the rainy season, the eggplant starts to have insects, so they should not be eaten.

White Salt

White salt is generally used for cooking at home, but eating it is forbidden in Sawan. It is recommended to eat rock salt instead of white salt in Sawan. The scientific reason not to eat white salt is that it takes time to digest it. Due to the rains in the month of Sawan, people's digestion gets weak, so people are recommended to eat rock salt.

Green Vegetables

Although green vegetables are very beneficial for health, during the rainy season insects get stuck in them. When eating vegetables with worms, there is a risk of stomach and skin diseases.
