: - The Swiss organization 'IQ Air' has released the 2020 World Air Quality Report showing the level of air quality.  This air quality level is determined on the basis of the damage caused by the airborne germs to the lungs.

- Delhi is the most polluted capital city in the world.

- India ranks third in the list of polluted countries in the world.

- Air quality in Delhi has improved by 15 per cent between 2019 and 2020.

- As India has 22 of the 30 most polluted cities in the world, India still ranks among the most polluted cities.

* Causes of pollution in India *

- Air pollution in India is mainly caused by transportation, cooking biomass, power generation industry, construction and waste incineration.

- Xinjiang in China is one of the most polluted cities in the world.

- In the list of 40 regional cities around the world, 37 cities are in South Asia alone.

- Pollution kills 13 to 22% of people in South Asia.

- Pollution in South Asia results in a loss of 7.4% of the total GDP of the respective countries.

- Air quality in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh is very low.

- Around 70 lakh people worldwide die due to air pollution alone, of which more than 6 lakh deaths are due to children.

- The air quality report of Swiss IQ Air has studied the pollution of 106 countries in the world.

- Of the 30 most polluted cities in the world, 11 cities are in Uttar Pradesh alone.

- It has been mentioned that pollution in India has decreased in 2020 as compared to 2019.

The pollution problem in Delhi has increased in the last few years, forcing all schools and colleges to close for some time.

- Due to non-compliance of pollution rules by industries and in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana, the remaining mulch is burnt after harvesting, which is causing a huge increase in pollution in Delhi.
