As per the current practice, if a person has a credit/debit card, he can transact online through these card details without taking any additional steps from the time of purchase.

But it cannot be said that everyone is using this service because there are many people in India who are not aware of online transactions.

Although WhatsApp is used by the majority, not everyone knows how to buy goods and services over the Internet.

Therefore, many people have set out to deceive them.

A few months ago, many people may have heard the audio circulating around where a North Indian, like a bank manager, said to a villager, 'Tell me the number 16 on the card, sir'.

Apart from these they cheat people by sending text messages and communicating in other ways. Those in the know ignore it.

RBI is going to implement a new system from March 16, 2020 to prevent innocent people from being cheated like this.

New Credit Debit Card
Internet transactions will be disabled by default for those who get a new credit debit card from March 16.

Those who need this facility can avail this service whenever they want.

Old Credit Debit Card
Those who already have a credit debit card, if they have not done any online transaction, their online transaction facility will be disabled.

You can reactivate it whenever and wherever you want.

This will prevent those who do not use the service from being cheated. This move by RBI is to be welcomed.
