When it comes to using his stories, scripts, and storylines to express socio-political tales, Vetrimaaran is a force to be reckoned with. When it comes to creating films that are the ideal blend of mainstream cinema and soul-stirring, taboo subjects that no one in the past has ever managed to speak about through this medium called film, no one in recent times in the Tamil film industry has come close to Vetrimaaran. His films were usually exceptional technically, and his most recent significant theatrical release was "Asuran," starring Dhanush and Manju Warrier. The theme of Vetrimaaran's most recent performance, "Viduthalai," which is Tamil for "liberation," is finding a balance between the lives of police officers and the extreme element in the state that is fervently fighting for the rights of the people.

A 12-minute long one-shot of the disaster site opens the film. This scene depicts the location of the train crash. One can witness the devastation, death, and mayhem brought on by this event as the camera moves closer to the site. Many are in need of immediate assistance, many are being taken to surrounding hospitals, and many are dead or gravely injured. The extent of heinousness brought forth by this event disturbs the local and union ministers there. It quickly becomes clear that the extreme organisation "Makkal Padai" was responsible for this catastrophe because they didn't want to give the state government what they thought they wanted—a mining firm taking over their hamlet for a project.

Because they feel that the land belongs to the people and that only they should profit from it, rather than some private organisation, "Makkal Padai" wants the mining project to be outside of the state. Make sure "Makkal Padai" informs the authorities that they are to blame for blowing up the bridge that caused a significant rain disaster. At the press conference, the chief secretary and the minister of PWD step up and inform the reporters that Perumal, the terrorist organization's mastermind, has never been seen and that there are no pictures of him on file with the police.
Perumal is known as a ghost, a moniker that derives from the fact that no one has ever seen him, but people are aware of his existence and the fact that he plans such brutal assaults on civilians and government leaders. For this reason, the government launches Operation Ghost Hunt. To put a stop to the separatist movement he has been leading under his name, the government is eager to apprehend this individual. The government would do everything to put the man in jail so that the mining firm would give them the contract and the work could start right away. The establishment of local schools and hospitals is made possible by the mining project's contribution to basic infrastructure and employment. This railway catastrophe forced the government to once more pursue tough measures against "Makkal Padai."Extremist Relationships with Kumaresan A Border Town A recently hired police officer named Kumaresan is his route to join the Ghost search. On the hilly landscape, he has no idea what type of life is in store for him. The entire movie is told through Kumaresan's viewpoint and what he thinks of the happenings, with him telling his mother about the entire event. Police halt the bus he's riding on at random to conduct a regular inspection. They learn that Kumaresan has joined their force and that he is a recruit.
