So, What Is Your Story?...

Hey guys, today I am gonna express my views on environmental pollution and a habit of littering our surrounding.

Basically I live in a litter free State, so people over here live in very clean environment and very few people litters around, we are taught from the beginning to take care of our own mess. My state Sikkim is where you will be fined of Rs. 5000 if you litter around, so we original citizen of our state are well versed in pollution and environmental protection, may be because we are sparsely populated. 🙏

I don't offend any other state and people by writing this, I just wanna share my personal experience in life.

I hope our country and the whole world will preserve and protect our environment…. So guys it's like an appeal as I see many tourists who come to our state, littering our environment, even you will find tons of dustbins around our state. So, please let us cultivate a habit of taking care of our own mess. ☝️

What I am sharing is my personal experience when I was 7 yrs old and in standard 2, so I vaguely remember all the scence but I have never forget the moral of the story I learnt.

It was on the month of April 1999, our school was visited by a lady from Germany I guess, and I don't remember the purpose, but I remember we were all, taken to a place to see hydel power project running near our school place by bus.

Before climbing to the bus we were given sweets, pack lunch, drinks and all by the lady who was sweet and polite, we were like whole bus of student.

Whole day was lot of fun and enjoyment for us, we ate, chatted, singed, danced saw the big dams and all for the first time, so totally it was an amazing experience.

After we returned from the site we were all assembled in the ground for the speach and introduction of the lady, I don't remember all the stuffs but that was my first experience to talk with a foreigners so I was excited and was standing close to her

The lady atlast asked us about the food and the drink, we all said thankyou but she asked us to return the empty packets of the stuffs we just ate in the bus, and we were like what?😲

She said, children where are those  wrappers and empty bottles which I gave you all?🤔

We threw it?, We said in unison🤨

Where? She asked

Outside the window of the bus. That too was also more probably in unison.😛

She smiled and carefully unzipped her handbag and took every piece of wrappers and bottles she just ate in a day.

We were amazed, why she was collecting those dirty stuffs.🧐

She said, we should take care of our own mess, the environment is our home, so we should never pollute our home,  the place where we live.

That part really got stuck on my mind, she told us about her country where people will throw all the garbage in dustbins and they will be punished if they do that.

From that day onwards I followed the same thing and never threw anything openly in the surrounding. After when I was in college our state too put on a strict regulations on pollution and environment.

But the farther I go to other state of India, rural and urban both, till today also I have never seen the concept of dustbins except for places were elites and rich people wander, but what about the common place and people, they just throw whatever they feel like throwing, from everywhere and spit everywhere, even the bus stand, taxi stand, big markets doesn't put dustbins and there are literally less concept of waste management.

From the incident that occured to me 20 years ago, where I found the lady from foreign land to teach us what pollution is, till today I have not seen people, common people like us to cultivate a habit of throwing waste in dustbins, and what about those who are poor maybe thay heard about safe drinking water, and toilet for the first time in their life, few years back where Swatch Bharat Mission has taken a shape in our society.

I wonder when will our country be civilized and wonder when we will be able to climb the ladder.

So, when I travel around my country and see waste, pollutants, litters, lying all over the places, I wonder when I can go back to that lady and say “we did it”, as now looking back I feel, our country will need another fifty years, to be able to reach what other civilized countries has achieved so far.

So, guys let's educate our self and the masses, lets cultivate a habit from today, and prove the saying “each one teach one”.

✌️Have a good future ahead

That is so amazing. And I feel sorry for what others do at your place. It's not right. Protecting environment is equally important for all. Good write-up. I am at L-01 "Seeker" on candlemonk Do check my posts too. Thanks
