What does no one tell you about placement, even if you have good grades?

  • Priya Nagarajan

A child is gifted when it looks at the world and learns differently rather than getting good grades.

If a child is studying to remember then he forgets, but if he studies to understand then he can remember for a long period.

We can see nowadays in actual life that many who have been academically sound couldn’t do well in their lives. Contrary to that, many who didn’t do well in academics have become successful in their jobs or entrepreneurs.

The reason behind this:

It is a written rule that students should score high marks in school to get into college, then again to get a job they have to score high marks for a successful career.

But the fact says that nowadays the link between the student’s academic achievement and their successful career goes a long way.

The latest studies reveal students are very poor in communication skills, problem-solving techniques, and ability to work with others. If they could develop well in these skills, then they can travel abode with a professional work ethic.

Also, it’s not only the student’s fault but also the education system that is mainly an exam-oriented approach on why students cannot develop these skills.

Additional measures needed:

Children nowadays are prone to technology and games. They sometimes get addicted to it. While the academic lessons are pen and paper, they cannot grasp the lessons quickly. This makes it difficult to understand the concepts. Recently, lessons have come with visualization effects, which they agree upon and can understand. This encourages kids to learn with enthusiasm and achieve their goals.

Sometimes visualization also tests their ability on how far they have understood their lessons.

Conducting psychometric tests:

There are many ways to conduct tests for children recently. This helps them to identify their aptitude, skills, and knowledge. This plays a crucial role in placements for jobs.

We conduct soft skills through psychometric tests. They are a combined format of questionnaires, activities, and interviews. This helps students also recognize their standards on the professional front. This also gives suggestions on how and where to improve their skills.

They should use this test in colleges. This will incorporate modules based on experimental and problem-based learning to develop the skills in students. This will help them score better in placements and academic progress.

Colleges need to monitor the improvement of student’s capabilities each semester as it is the pathway to improve themselves.

Of course, this step will require a radical shift in the mindset of colleges, as they have to move to a holistic approach in measuring student’s memory.

In the long term, the old method does not actively build students for long-term success in a career. So, it is time that educational institutions change from the old method and adopt an imperative progressive method for the betterment of future generations. This will cope up with the pressure that they involve students in unique skills needed.
