I CAN'T DEAL WITH PRESSURE AND EXPECTATIONS!

 

It is important to free yourself from the pressure of other people’s expectations, as many dreams and aspirations die with it.

When you have so much on your plate, you don’t know where to begin or how to cope? Sometimes you feel overburdened by other's expectations, or you seem to disappoint with the progress you have made on your given task. If you feel you are under pressure, then it is going to affect your mental health. 

Dealing with pressure is an everyday activity. Stress does come in a lot of forms and from different places. It’s not the people surrounding you that cause anxiety. It’s your reactions, helplessness, and a sense of quitting with self-pity, not able to meet the demands and expectations of people you feel the pressure. 

Where is the pressure coming from?

We have to deal with two kinds of pressure- internal and external. 

Internal pressure comes from within yourself. It comes if you push yourself too hard, worry about your ability, and meet other's expectations from you. A study reveals that too much pressure can make a lot of us angry, sad, and anxious. It can also knock you out cold with burnout. 

External pressures come from people who care about you and want you to succeed. It is what makes them off, so you cannot change the natures and behaviors of others. Accept the package and make it tolerable and comfortable. But if you feel your values, self-respect, and peace of mind threatened, then consider walking out. You forget you cannot change or control the situation, but be assertive and prudent, so that no one will trespass your boundaries and space.

Sometimes, a little pressure can motivate you to do your best. But if it is too much, then it will paralyze you. 

Analyze your responsibility:

Know the fact that no one can do everything. So, analyze what’s important to you? Which deed brings the best to you? Which one is bringing you down? Which one is real?

If you adjust the timeline of your goal and say instead of you have to be the best, into you are doing your best, then your road to success is clear. Whatever decision you take need not be permanent, instead, adjust according to your needs and ability. 

Instead of stressing yourself with pressure, you can talk to the people involved and make it less stressful. 

How to cope?

You should have a coping method to deal with pressure and expectations. You can schedule a relaxation time with your friends in coping with stress. It would be the best term if you remind yourself to enjoy the activity and goals that you have dreamed of. 

If still, you are feeling under pressure, then getting professional help will make you go on the right path. So instead of succumbing to stress, anxiety, and happiness when you stress take deep belly breathes and relieve the stress and make you relax and focused. 

In this way, you can go with the flow and be self-centered.
