Majority of the population think that dressing up in western, living like westerners and enjoying life free from commitment as real modernization.
Is it..?!
No!
It's not!
Dressing up modern is totally a different concept from being modern. Modernization is the process of thought that one gets when they evolve through the contemporary world. Some people will look modern, but their thought process would be struck in 70s. Some look like 70s, but their thought process would be more modern. There are also people who get to have both in sync. We can't judge people with their looks, we can't change other people's thoughts. But, what we can do is, evolve ourselves. We have to think modern and live a life which would not be quoted as ‘useless' by ourselves.
That's fine!
But, what does modern thought process mean?!
We are living in 21st century. Even now the world sees and judges people with their looks, or ‘so called’ birth identity or gender or even by the amount of property one has. In India, there are multiple religions, their own beliefs and the worst caste system, by which people are treated best to worst according to their ‘so called’ identity. Even some genz people can't understand the reality.
Not only caste, there is Racism, Patriarchy / gender inequality (that makes both men and women to suffer), Treatment as per a person's money/property/popularity and so on.
Being modern is that, understanding what is right, what is wrong, what is the back story of that particular good or bad thing/happening and leading a clear life without dissolving into this worst society that treats fellow human being according to their own stupid beliefs.
Being modern is understanding, changing oneself and then trying to change others' thoughts. Change starts from one's thought process. We have to educate ourselves to understand the true nature of this society. Think like Annal. Dr. Ambedkar, who was asked to stay out from school as he belonged to ‘so called’ lower community; who struggled hard and studied the entire Indian constitution; who then got an award as ‘No. one scholar in the world’.
This is being modern. This is modernization. This is thinking modern. This is how we have to face this society. We have to educate ourselves first to understand what's going on and then we have to evolve before insisting others to do so.
Education I've mentioned here is not the one we memorise in schools, real education allows one to develop rational quality!
Dressing up as per once wish, taking responsibility or being free from responsibility as per once wish and whatever one decides should be as per their own wish and it should not be quoted under the term of being ‘modern’. People should not force themselves by seeing something on social media and mistake it as being modern. Being/thinking modern always opposes societies pressure of wanting to lead a life like someone else's.
That make us ‘The Real Modern People of Society’
Educate! Evolve! Be the change!.
