Yesterday there was a house party in our Campus as we all are stuck inside because of Corona Virus. We were talking about several topics like:- Yoga, exercise, obesity problem and finally we landed in financial talks. That how much savings we have at present. considering the outside scenario and the corona virus issue, savings is the only thing which can keep us afloat at the time of need.
As I and one more friend in the group is working in the government sector and rest of those are working under private sector, there was certainly a debate between which sector is better. It actually included so many sides like: salary, leaves, work load, work timing, family work life balance etc.
Well, I am not defending myself but Government of India, yes they do pay you well now a days and there is a job certainty and job security which is mostly important at the end of the day in the corona virus scenario, but this is not as good as the private sector generally pays.
secondly, in government sector there is no bonus, no incentives, no dearness allowance for the last 2 years and of course there is a fixed percentage of increment for government employees every single year. so, we can say that, you work hard or you hardly work, there is no such difference between two employees. I feel this is also a reason that good and hard working or smart working employees lost their interest towards work due to lack of recognition and rewards.
Contrary to that, in private sector, we are not denying that in some cases people experience toxic environment to work in but mostly, good companies take care of their employees and tried to retain them for the betterment of the company and for their and company's growth.
Yes, I do agree, workload is a point of debate in both the sectors. well, in government sectors now a days work load has also increased and incompetent people can find a way to avoid such work and dump the same on the employees who are workaholic and still manage to get the full salary and be retained in the job. In government sector, once you become permanent, you will be in the job till 60 years. But in private sector their is a mechanism to review the performance of the employees on regular basis and on the basis of that the incentive, bonus, other perks gets decided, which actually encourages employee.
