The outburst in the cases of the deadly pandemic of COVID-19 has created a cloud of fear and panic in the hearts of the people of India. Fingers are being pointed, complaints and agitation are being poured in, debates are being held on who is to be held responsible. The matter is very sensitive and yes, it is slipping out of our hands. The noise is getting louder, stronger and bolder because this virus targets not only the poor and penniless but also the rich and the powerful. Sadly, the virus does not check your bank balance before it decides to kill! No one was spared by the pandemic and that is the reason why this panic is outspread as it is no more a middle class/ poor man’s problem but everybody’s problem!
Corruption, mishandling reports, creating fake scarcity, middlemen creating barriers in the demand and supply chain, etc. were issues present even before the pandemic set foot in this world. But today these same very issues are suffocating every individual irrespective of status, wealth, power and influence and today each one of us realize how these evils that co-existed with us in our system for years together, which we were ignorant about, is the nightmare of every house today. The depth of the pit is only felt when one falls into one. If we had never let these evils survive in the earlier stages, we could have reduced the harm we are feeling today. Another major cause for any issue in our country which is tended to be neglected always is – the outburst of population. The quantity of resources available against the density of our population is highly disproportionate. If we do not lay down a boundary line for the same and look into how to control the burst of population, we shall fall into an irreversible crisis that might be fiercer and more frightening than the ongoing one.
These little out springs of greed that crept silently into our living, years ago have sucked the humanity present in one and turned them to money seeking heartless machines and has become the base for the chaos amidst the pandemic in our nation. Definitely, better planning and execution by the Government could have put us in better shoes and their failure shouldn’t be overlooked. But, not to forget, let us move beyond what our eyes and ears can see and hear. Let us look at the problem in a wider perspective and drive out the other issues as well. Something becomes an issue to you, only when it troubles you or else it’s never your business. Let us bring an end to this attitude, not lower our voices and get rid of these parasites before it encroaches every sector and brings danger to every house of the nation. We have remained silent enough and we have seen enough how heart wrecking our silence could cost us. Don’t you now feel that each one of us, yes you and me, are also responsible for all the maddening situation today? If we had raised our voices and frustration long way back, corruption, selling of hospital beds, fake shortage of medicines and equipment and what not to make money out of someone’s life would have never been the fuel to the pandemic. Please, do sit down, put on your thinking hats and think what have you done before to raise your voice against the same culprit? Is it just an issue to you today because you are in danger? Is this what a responsible citizen does? Are we trying to make noise just to deny our mistakes and ignorance? The earlier we realize , the more closer we are to a better tomorrow ! On this note, I shall leave you to think and conclude…!
