The Article 19 (1) (a) in the Indian constitution given us Freedom of speech and expression. It means every citizen has right to express his thoughts, opinions, views, beliefs freely by mouth, printing, writing or any other method. The freedom of speech and expression includes liberty to propagate not only ones vies. It also include right to propagate, publish or broadcast the views of other people,  otherwise this freedom would not include the freedom of press.

On the one side the Traditional media acted as publisher, other side social media platforms has chosen yo position themselves simply as technology platform. They have safe harbour for content published on their platforms by third parties, subject to due diligence obligation. 

Social media has become important part of our daily life. For many people this is source of earning through these platforms by creating various content. Tik-Tok was one of the popular content creating app. But in June 2020 it got banned in India. Along with other 223 apps including WeChat also got banned in country. Then Instagram introduced reels feature like Tik tok and people got another platform to express themselves.

Social media platforms become important and compelling means of expressing self, at at time and even formulating public opinion. Social media is powerful tool to mass reach, the platform provided the space for everyone in digital world, which is used by millions of people to express their views or opinions.

Today everyone uses this platform not only for just entertainment purposes but to earn money through it. It helped every businesses from local to big brands to create their presence on digital world and grow their business. Social media also gave lots of job opportunities. Digital marketing, social media marketing, content creation, content writing and many more. In this pandemic situation many people started new home business to support families and this social media platforms help them to reach at mass targeted audience. It is easy to use , effective and and easily accessible only thing you need is mobile phone with these features and internet connection. But it is also important to educate people about impact of using social media and what is, what isn't appropriate behaviour on such mass reach approach. We need to understand difference between public and private information. We need to be aware about other issues like fake news, bullying, harrasment and any other things which can harm us mentally.
