All skin is unique. Different types of skin needs different skincare regime according to one's skin concerns. Skin is affected by genes, environment, stress, hormonal imbalance and even wrong beauty products. So it is important to know your skin and it deserves the care it needs.
Here's an easy way to know your skin at home.
STEP 1: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Make sure you use a cleanser with mild and low lathering formula that is not too harsh on your skin.
STEP 2: Pat dry your face with a towel and leave your skin bare.
STEP 3: Do not apply any product on your skin for 30 minutes. After half an hour, take a clean tissue or a blotting paper. Spread it evenly on skin and dab it gently.
Now the results can be visibly noted.
OILY SKIN: The paper shows traces of oil. Skin feels greasy and has a glossy shine all over. Pores are visible. Use foaming face washes and light moisturizers.
DRY SKIN: There are No traces of oil. Skin feels dull,dry, itchy, flaky and ashy. Pores are invisible. Use a gentle cleanser and creamy based moisturizers.
COMBINATION SKIN: Traces of oil around T-zone i.e., forehead, nose and chin. Other areas feel normal or dry. Pores are visible around T-zone. Use a gentle or foaming facewash and gel based moisturizers.
SENSITIVE SKIN: Skin shows reddish patches and susceptible rashes. Skin feels irritated and itchy. Skin might react to fragranced products. Sensitive skin needs special care. Use a very gentle cleanser and use a harmless products with gentle ingredients.
NORMAL SKIN: There are no traces of oil. Skin feels healthy. Skin will not feel not too dry or too oily. Pores are practically invisible.
Our skin shreds dead cells everyday and due to this skin looks damaged leading to early signs of ageing. Dead skin cells shedding leads to dull appearance which in turn lowers your confidence level.
