Jobs Are Many But Workers Are Not Available

Not too long ago, when authors were writing books on the rise of robots and telling how robots will eat everyone's jobs in the coming times. It was estimated that automation could put at least half the jobs in the US at risk.

But recent reports paint a different picture. She does not say that robots will replace humans, but she says whether they will show a little agility and save the world's economy, because there is a shortage of workers. The unemployment rate in the world today stands at 4.5 percent, its lowest level since global records were set in 1980. The shortage of workers in developed countries including the US and the UK is touching historic heights.

Today there are 11.2 million positions lying vacant in the US, while there are only 5.6 million job-hunters. This is the largest gap since the 1950s. Millions of people who had left work during the pandemic have not yet returned. This is increasing the bassiness of the bosses. The pressure is also greater because the population of people of working age i.e. 15 to 64 years is also declining, while the number of older people is increasing. It is the belated result of a social change that took place decades ago, in which people started family planning measures and medical science raised the average age of people.

This is the situation today in about 40 countries where the working population is declining. There are many of them, which are called big economic powers. The situation is more or less the same in America. Economic growth slows down due to labor shortage, so most countries would need more and more robots to keep on the path of development. Those looking at technology with skepticism are not deterred from giving warnings. They say that now that the pandemic is over, people will return to work and then robots will become a burden.

China, Japan, Germany and South Korea are at the top of the countries facing the labor shortage. All of these are projected to reduce the working population by four lakh every year by 2030. It is not a coincidence that the first of all Robots have started doing a lot of work and new robots are being employed. Japan's manufacturers are employing 400 robots every year to replace 10,000 workers. China is largely subsidizing the robot market. Its goal is to increase the output of robots by 20 percent by 2030. But Bernstein's analysts predict that even at this speed, robots will not be able to fill all the potholes of the labor force. In the next three years, China is going to face a shortage of 3.5 million workers.
