Description of the project - Over the course of four years, a 16 km link was built between Sweden and Denmark. It spans the Øresund between Copenhagen and Malmö, comprising an elongated peninsula, an underwater tunnel, a man-made island, and a 7845-meter bridge link. The man-made island and the Swedish mainland are connected by the concrete steel composite bridge, from which access points to the underwater tunnel are provided. When combined with the Storebaelt bridge across the wide belt, a link between Scandinavia and Continental Europe might be established in 1998.

The Öresund Bridge has been linking Sweden and Denmark since 2000. It ties to so much more, though. The bridge makes it possible to access culture, employment, and education. July 1, 2020 is the 20th anniversary of the 15.9-kilometer bridge.

A throbbing current of life and travel is created between the nations by the bridge. 2,950,872 cars passed over it in total when it opened in 2001. That amounted to 7,454,231 automobiles in 2019. We are honored to have contributed to the creation of a route leading into Europe by uniting Sweden and Denmark. Together, we have made it possible for roughly 114 million cars to use the bridge to traverse the Strait during the past 20 years.

People on both sides of the Strait now have more options for housing, employment, and education thanks to the Öresund Bridge. About twenty thousand people commute over the Strait each day. By driving, crossing Öresund takes around 10 minutes, however by train, it takes significantly less time. The Bridge is a vital conduit to the continent for Sweden as well.

The Sundlink Contractors building consortium was given the contract by the Öresund consortium in 1995 to construct the bridge. Skanska, a company with a wealth of bridge construction experience. The Öresund Bridge was finished on time and within budget, six months ahead of schedule. The contractor and customer worked together really well, which was the reason for the success. Everybody worked together to achieve shared objectives and communicated in a very straightforward manner.

The construction project was unique in a lot of ways. The magnitude of the bridge, of course, added a great deal of complexity and accuracy to the project. Concerns were periodically raised by the weather and sea currents. It also involved keeping Öresund's shipping operations as unhindered as possible. The bridge linked two nations, the building firms came from a number of other nations, and the span's components were made in Sweden and Spain. Up to 1,300 people were employed on the Öresund Bridge.
