The Bailong Elevator, also called the Hundred Dragons Elevator, is a glass elevator situated in Zhangjiajie, China's Wulingyuan neighborhood. Bailong translates to "A Hundred Dragons" in English. At 326 meters (1,070 feet) in height, it is regarded as the tallest outdoor elevator in the world.

The elevator, which transports passengers to the summit of the cliff where they can take in expansive views of the surroundings, was built into the side of a cliff in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Bailong Elevator took its time to build, starting in 1999 and finishing in 2002. Three double-decker vehicles with a maximum capacity of 50 passengers each make up the elevator. It can hoist people at a speed of three meters per second and is propelled by a trio of strong motors. 

Hiking typically takes two hours from Yuanjiajie's base to the summit. Additionally, it takes an additional 1.5 to 2 hours to see the top attractions on the mountain, like Hallelujah Mountain, the World's No. 1 Bridge, the Fascinating Platform, etc. However, when Bailong Elevator shows along, everything is different. Now, it takes only two minutes to reach the summit of the mountain.

Thousands of tourists visit the Bailong Elevator every year, making it a famous tourist destination. However, due to worries over its effects on the environment and passenger safety, its placement and construction have also generated controversy.

The tallest full-exposure outdoor elevator, the tallest double-deck sightseeing elevator, and the fastest passenger traffic elevator in the world with the largest carrying capacity are all titles that Bailong Elevator has won from the Guinness Book of World Records. The only thing more exciting than visiting this world-record invention is visiting it!

For a single trip, an elevator ticket costs roughly CNY 65 per person. Purchasing round-trip tickets does not result in a discount.

Warm Advice for Using the Bailong Elevator :

1. To gain the widest view, aim to board the elevator first and stand next to the window. 

2. Due to crowds and the potential need to wait one to two hours to get a ticket, the experience might not be as enjoyable during busy times of the year. If you're searching for the simplest method to go up or down the mountain, it's still worth a go.

3. During snowy days and other inclement weather, the Bailong Elevator may be suspended.
