An expecting mom has several emotional and physical distress due to sudden hormonal changes, the after effects of which may not be good for the baby and may affect the baby in a small or a larger way. Therefore it is highly important to manage stress that is caused during this crucial period.
The stress may be caused due to several reasons. After positive pregnancy result, there lies around thirty six weeks for the baby to reach full growth. Lots of sudden hormonal adjustments take place in the woman's body to accommodate the growth of the baby. Tackling these changes is what that is needed for a healthy pregnancy.
Anxiety and stress is common in an expecting mother. The worry and anxiety o bringing another human into the world can be difficult. Sometimes the expecting mother would not have a proper support system through out this journey or the environment may not be healthy. This can be major cause for stress. Also too much worrying of the baby can itself cause too much stress that may affect the growth of the baby.
The effects of stress can be very drastic at times. When we are under stress, there will be a release of a hormone called Cortisol. In case of a pregnant person, excess amount of which if reaching the baby, may cause high blood pressure of the baby in the future. Though not proven, studies show that high levels of stress may cause asthma for the child. Stress during pregnancy may even cause asymmetry in coordination of ears, fingers, elbows, feet and this may in in turn affect the IQ level of the child. Crying often during this period is also not advised.
Therefore it is highly important to have a safe and healthy pregnancy. Make sure the environment you are in is always calm. Talk to your partner and understand each other better during this time, as it is important for the baby. Have a proper diet and make sure to include all the recommended foods for an expecting mother. Be physically active and try to take a walk when comfortable. Wear comfortable maternity wear. Read pregnancy books to know more and talk to other expecting moms. Practice yoga and other breathing exercises. Try to always be positive and following all this will definitely control and keep your stress away giving way for a happy and healthy motherhood.
