Introduction
In India english is taught in each and every states school. English teaching is very complicated task in India. The way of teaching english is very different in diffrent part of India. The grammer translation method is the oldest method of teaching english. This method is also known as the classical method. In the grammer translation method the students first study the part of speech and syntax in detail. The sentence in English and mother tongue were compared and contrasted side by side. Basically in this method the mother tongue used to teach english.

⚫ It is not possible to translate important aspect of spoken language like pronunciation, articulation, intonation, pauses, pitch etc.

⚫ Student get no opportunity to participate in the discussion of the unit.
