Ornaments have influenced the aesthetics of many cultures, from the elaborate designs of Islamic art to the lavish embellishments of Baroque architecture. Ornaments are still utilized today in a variety of artistic mediums, including music and architecture. New materials and technology have made decorations more widely available and varied, enabling designers and artists to try out novel shapes and methods.
