There are many aftermarket exhausts available in the market. As a rider we all love the way our bike sounds at higher rpm's but some of us are more concerned when it comes to tge sound and sporty look of the bike which can be easily enhanced by installing an aftermarket exhaust for better sound and performance.

Now mainly there are many replicas at an affordable range available in online and offline market. Like Akraprovic, Sc project, Yoshimura, Austin Racing, etc.

Many of us us wonder are those replicas with loud sound legal or not.

Th   answer is the exhausts which comes with a DB Killer are said to be legal as they generates lower decibles.

Sc project replica available at amazon

While installing the exhaust we need to give attention on the catalytic converter. Usually we remove th stoc converter and install bend pipe and fix the exhaust but what about the reverse pressure?Doing this engine is unable to generate the required back pressure and the fuel is not burnt properly and gradually damages the engine and life of the engine of bike.

So th  conclusion is that while installing a bend pipe we should install an aftermarket catalytic converter and then muffler.

Bend Pipe used for Rs 200, NS 200, Dominar 400

Some of the dealers provide muffler with bend pipe in combo with catalytic converter preinstalled in the product.

The list of good sounding exhausts for singl  cylinder bikes are as follows

  1. Akraprovic
  2. Sc project
  3. Arrow
  4. Austin racing
  5. GXX
  6. yoshimura
  7. M4 exhausts
  8. Toce
  9. Akraprovic double barrel
  10. Yoshimura aplha T

Under federal law, catalytic converters may not be removed and replaced with "converter replacement pipes" by any person. The Clean Air Act 1990 even prohibit private individuals from installing "converter replacement pipes" on their own vehicles. Anyone who installs such pipes would violate section 203(a)(3)(A) and (B) of the Clean Air Act (Act) In addition to federal law, forty-five out of the fifty States also have statutes or regulations which prohibit tampering with the pollution control equipment on motor vehicles or driving or selling such vehicles. Thus, vehicle owners who tamper with their own vehicles may be subject to substantial penalties under both federal and state law.
