THE BATTLESHIP ISLAND

Based on true events which took place in Hashima Island. During the Japanese colonial era, 400 Korean people where forced to mine for coal in Hashima island and they attempt to escape.

If you like violence, struggle for survival and full on thriller then this film is for you. It's really hard to watch some scenes since the actions are so intense that you actually think its real. It feels like you're watching a real footage of war and massacre. The soundtrack was brilliant. This film makes you emotional and sad in the middle of all the thrill because you come to a point when you realize that what you are witnessing had actually happened in our world. People struggle for freedom and their livelihood. It just hit you on next level. 

CONFESSION OF MURDER

In the day the 15-year statute of limitations expired on a high profile serial murder case that claimed the lives of 10 women,  a man named Lee Du- seok publishes an autobiography describing the murders he committed. A detective and one of the victim's mother search for the author while another killer begins a spree of murder.

For those of you who do not know about the STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS law, it's a civil law in south Korea. It basically means that someone cannot be prosecuted for committing murder 25 years after he is caught. In July 2015, the national assembly extended the period from 15 to  25 years. The film is based on true events that happened in Korea, but unlike the actual case the film spin off with different twist of its own. If you are that person who likes psychological killer revenge ride then this one's for you.

MOTHER

A widow reside with her mentally challenged son in a small south korean town, where the mother earns the living by selling medicinal herbs. An unfortunate fate unfolds before them when the body of a girl is discovered. A mother desperate attempt to search the killer who framed her son for the girl's horrific murder. 

Another masterpiece by one of the best and my favorite South Korean Director Bong Joon-ho. I am sure everyone must have watched his oscar winning film Parasite. By now I have watched almost all his films and I must say Bong is one of the finest filmmaker out there in the film industry according to me. Getting back to the review part, MOTHER is a simple yet unique film which delivers the wonderful story of mother and son relationship. The film start on slower pace but it is much more impactful and leave you with mixed emotions. Everything seem moving slow in the story and then there's sudden twist on every turn which will move you completely. I couldn't shake my head off when I finished the film. I was left with shocked and mixed emotions. It's a must watch!!!!
