Atta Momos Whole Wheat Momos

Momos are dumplings that are derived from South Asia and have now become a traditional delicacy in Nepal. This recipe is healthy guys because it contains zero oil steamed momos with a lot and a lot of vegetables in it.

Ingredients:-

For the outer cover, you need-

1 cup of whole wheat flour/atta

2 tbsp of oil

¼ of salt

¼ cup of water

For the stuffing you need-

⅓ cup of cabbage

⅓ cup of carrot

⅓ cup of capsicum

⅓ cup of onion or spring onion

1½ tbsp of chopped ginger

1 tbsp of chopped green chilly

1 tbsp of back pepper 

Salt according to your taste

Method:-

(For outer covering)

  1. Take the atta and salt to your mixing bowl.
  2. Add water in parts and mix and begin to knead to a soft dough.
  3. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

(For inside stuffing)

  1. Chop and grate all the above-mentioned vegetables and mix them in the mixing bowl.
  2. Add chopped ginger and green chilies
  3. Then add salt and black pepper.
  4. Mix everything very well. Do check and add more salt and black pepper if required according to your taste.
  5. Keep aside for 20 mins
  6. Put your chopped veggies on the cloth. Bring together the edges and gently wring to drain up excess whey.
  7. The mixture will be ready. Make sure it has no more whey(water) in it.
  8. Grease the steamer pan very well with the oil and keep it aside.

Shaping Whole wheat momos-

1.Divide the dough in small size balls

2.Roll each ball into a thin circle. Try to bring edges thin and the center is thick.

3.Apply water with your fingertip to the edges of the circle.

4.Place 2 tbsp of stuffing in the center.

5.Lift one side of the edge and start to pleat.

6.Start folding and forming pleats one by one.

7.In the end, join the pleats in the center.

8.Prepare all the momos and keep the covering in a moist napkin.

9.Once the steam is ready place the momos in the greased pan and lets it get steamed for 20-25 minutes.

10.Your momos are ready. Serve it with red chili garlic chutney. They also go very well with a spicy sauce.
