Vijay Sethupathi (born 16 January 1978) is a film actor, producer, singer, host and lyricist from Tamil Nadu.  He is an actor who is widely known for his roles in several films like South West Monsoon (2010), Pizza (2012), Madhuvula Kalta Pakhatta Kanom (2012), Nanum Rowdi Than (2015), Sethupathi (2016 film) (2016), 96 (2018).  He has won many awards including two South Indian Filmfare Awards and three Vijay Awards.Born in Rasapalayam, Virudhunagar District, he did his schooling in Virudhunagar District and Chennai.  He has said that he was a below average student in school and was not interested in sports and extra-curricular activities.  After graduating in Bachelor of Commerce, he worked as an accountant in Dubai for 3 years.  He returned to India in 2003 as he did not like the job.  He said that a shadow film maker told him that his face is one of the most beautiful in shadow films, which motivated him to choose acting.He joined Goothupattarai as an accountant.  He said that he got a chance to observe the actors from up close.  He also acted in the TV series Pend.  The artiste has acted in several short films for Kalaanyar Television`s Tomorrow Director programme.  He has worked in several short films with Pizza director Karthik Subpuraj.  He won the Best Actor Award at the Norwegian Short Film Tamil Film Festival.

Director Selvaraghavan participated in the talent audition for Puduppet and got an opportunity to act as Dhanush's friend.  He then played the lead Kathi Mandar in the Tamil version of the Tamil-Kannada bilingual film Akanda, and the opposite Kathi Mandar in the Kannada version.  The film did not hit the screens.  Later he played small roles in Prabhu Salomon's Lee and Suchindran's Vanilla Kabaddi Team, Naan Mahaan Alla.  She said that it was director Suchinthran who made her dream come true by casting her in the lead role.  Suchindran introduced him to Seenu Ramasamy, the director of South-West Parukatu.  Later, Seenu Ramasamy offered Vijay Sethupathi the lead role in the film.

In 2012, all three films she starred in were commercial hits.  He played the antagonist of the protagonist in Sundarapandian.  He played the lead Kathi Mandar in Karthik Subpuraj's Pizza and Balaji Dharanidharan's Madhuvula Kata Pakhatta Gaanom.  He also played the lead role in Nalan Kumaraswamy's Soothu Kavvum.  He has acted in the film Panniyarum Padminiyum.There are many fans who watch 'Makka Kalangutappa' dance in Dharmadurai whenever it is telecasted on TV.  In 2017, she acted in the sensational film Vikram Veda with actor Madhavan, which became a hit for both of them.

In 2018, he also acted in the movies Eru Nalla Naal Pathu Sholeren and Joonga.  Joonga is a movie directed by Gokul.  After that, he acted in the film Chekkachivantha Vaanam[3] directed by director Mani Ratnam.  This movie has many famous stars like Simbu, Arvind Swamy, Arun Vijay, Prakash Raj, Jyotika, Aditi, Aishwarya Rajesh.  After that he acted in films like 96, Seethakadi, Super Deluxe, Peta[4][5].  Actress Trisha has acted opposite him in the movie 96.  The film was a huge hit and received critical acclaim.

In 2019, she acted in the Telugu movie Sai Raa Narasimha Reddy. 

He is an amazing actor on Bollywood.
