Mystifying Kids

Autism is not a disease, but it can have a significant impact on a person's life. Some people may need a lifelong support. In countries like US every 1 in 54 children is autistic. Back in india this term is still a little unspecified, I personally being a mother of such a child can understand the ordeal of this disorder, not only does the child but the family struggles to understand what is wrong with your child. In the present day pandemic scenario where a normal human being is being offered with so many helpline, podcasts and so on about their mental health issue. Well this blog is not a way to find a cure to it but somehow deal with these children with a different approach.

This disorder or condition for one cannot be cured though medical diagnosis can help a child do a lot better and cope up better with the other kids.

Early signs can be seen from 2 years.

From my personal experience, people living in India have a fixed mindset if the child doesn't speak people around you whether it's yours neighbours or relatives, they'll start giving you all kinds of examples like 'Sharma ji ka beta teen saal mein bola, Malhotra ji ka beta bhi iski tarah baat nhi karta' and what not. Mothers like me being educated still behave dumb rather than getting a doctor's opinion you wonder if something is wrong in the way you're raising the kid. Actually in Indian Scenario mostly mother's are blamed with anything that goes wrong with your kids. So moral of the story is as soon as you find out there is a problem in your child don't just sit there and keep making assumptions but consult a doctor at the earliest.

Signs you can find in an autistic child:

•No eye to eye contact.

•If you call your baby's name aloud he fails to recognize it.

•Some children may do some repetitive movements like flapping their hands.

•Have emotional breakdowns (getting angry, crying or laughing at times without any good reason)

• Sensitivity towards loud noises and sounds that they don't like, to touch and lights.

•Staying in their own worlds and playing alone avoiding interactions with everyone.

•Having a particular routine (getting upset if it's even slightly changed)

•Lack of concentration

•Repeating a particular dialogue or music or actions continuously.

•Donot like role play (like kids play games acting to be doctors, teachers etc.)

To sum it all, these are some of the basic characteristics of this disorder.
