Why Being Quite Is Powerful?

Do you have someone who never has much to say? You could find quiet people everywhere, from the kid taking notes in class to the part guest sitting alone in the corner. It's obvious that loud people get a lot of attention, you can't help but the loudest person is given more attention

People tend to believe that quiet people are shy or loner but that's not the case. A professor at the University of California says that unlike shy people quiet ones are very sociable and have a lot of friends. They aren't quiet because they are afraid to speak up but because they don't want to waste time saying anything which is not worth it. Talk encourages more talk and quiet people choose to stay silent instead of having meaningless conversations.

8 Ways to Tell Someone to Be Quiet | Merriam-Webster

Being quiet is powerful, when you don't speak a lot other people tend to become uncomfortable and they feel compelled to fill in the silence. In this way, they try to talk more and reveal things out. One of the tactics used by the law to get people to confess the truth.  No doubt quiet people are good listeners, they tend to hear out people and analyze things their own way. When a quiet person speaks it's usually a well-thought answer.

Silence is a source of great strength, it offers empathy to others. We live in a city that is constantly barraged by noises and distractions. From tv channels to music, disco, alarms, phones, traffics and many more. We are constantly fighting with so much noise around that we don't have enough time to communicate what we actually need to. However, when we are quiet we give others the chance to speak and show them they matter.

Whenever we try to explain something often we tend to over express or some cases we say too much which is not required. If a question is met with silence there is an answer to it. It's kind of saying “no” without being harsh. Even when there is a situation wherein we don't agree with the other person, silence speaks a lot. Silence is a nonverbal language.

If you are a very talkative person or a louder person and want to practice silence there are a lot of ways. Always try to listen to people before placing your facts, try being a good listener. The idea of being silence is not to manipulate people or use it in a wrong way but to amplify words surrounding silence. Definitely words do matter but silence provides you with strength.
