J. Robert Oppenheimer(1904-1967) was an theoretical physicist. By the time of Manhattan project, he was the director of the “Los Alamos” laboratory and responsible for the discovery of atomic bomb. Since he was responsible for the research and design of the atomic bomb, he was often known as “father of the atomic bomb”.
Oppenheimer was already known as exceptional theoretical physicist and had deeply involved in discovery of atomic bomb in the fall of 1942. Through out the year he had been involved in the research of exploring fast neutrons and calculating how much energy it might be required and it's efficiency also.
General Leslie Groves recognised his exceptional scientific intelligence though he has some troubles with management and the associations. He had been selected as director of weapon development, by the time U.S dropped two atomic bomb on Japan. Later he has been considered as a great choice as a director of the Los Alamos.

Oppenheimer was born on 22 april,1904.His family was the part of culture society of American reform Judaism founded and led at the time by Dr. Felix Adler. Oppenheimer enrolled himself in the ethical culture school led by Dr. Adler in the year of 1911. He was good in studies at the very early age, also he was very much interested in studying minerals, physics and chemistry. The New York mineralogical club invited him to deliver a lecture even not realizing he was a small boy.
He enrolled in Harvard in September 1922 and he had graduated in three years. He showed his real passion towards physics though he had majored in chemistry. So he began his graduate work in physics at cavendish laboratory in Cambridge, England. He got the chance of being student of J.J. Thomson who had been awarded the 1906 Nobel prize in physics for detecting electron. He had a good fortune to be in Europe as the European physicist were then developing quantum mechanics. He got his doctorate in 1927.At Berkeley he had developed a good friendship with Ernest Lawrence who was invented Cyclotron.
He was married to a botanist named kitty. The had two children, Peter and Toni.
Oppenheimer as became an advisor of the atomic energy commission after the war. In the year of 1947,he has directed the institute for the advanced study in Princeton, New Jersey. During the second red scare his security clearance was revoked. He had made political enemies by arguing against the development of hydrogen bomb.
Oppenheimer continued lecturing around the world, he was awarded the Enrico fermi award in 1963.Also he had established the world Academy of Art and Science in 1906 with Albert Einstein, Bertrand Russell and Joseph Rotblat.
