Breastfeeding has been an incredible journey so far. I could only feed my 1st born for 1st 4 months as she got used to bottle and starting rejecting direct feeds. I couldn't pump for long. It was too tiring and i was misinformed. So my breastfeeding journey with her ended. That left me quite sad. I knew how important it is to feed the baby due to multiple reasons so i promised myself to feed my 2nd one for as long as possible. Now my 2nd is nearly 2.5 years old and we are still going strong. She doesn't take bottles at all.
We have a great bonding. She has much better immunity than my elder daughter. She is calm and can be managed easily with comfort feeding. When she is ill i don' need to worry about her food or milk intake. Breastfeeding keeps her full and results in quicker recovery.
We have better sleep. No washing bottles and accessories. Omg the list is endless. I remember carrying bottles during travels and it was so much work to sterilize it every time in hotels. Breastmilk is free food and so nutritious at the same time.
I didn't have any supply issues with both my kids. But still i took supplements to keep up with it. It's all about demand and supply. The more you feed the more you produce. I don't know how much the supplements helped but i saw no harm in taking them. I feel maybe they helped a little. I took shatavari capsules, fenugreek seed capsules and lactonic granules. You doctor can help you with more supplements in case there is a medical condition. My tip is feeding often even if it's comfort feeding. Don't introduce bottle when you are trying to build up your supply. Pump if you feel like in case baby is feeding less often. You have to send signals of demand to your body. Giving bottle at this point will beat the purpose.
Breastmilk is truly liquid gold. That's the best gift you can give your baby. I feel it's their right too. Don't let people tell you how and when to breastfeed. Go with your baby cues. You both know best. Some say sleeping and feeding is not good but when you think about it baby is always in sleeping position nowhat matter in what position you are. I always laid down and slept. Found it most convenient after my csection. Till date we feed in same position. It lets me sleep well too.
Breastfeeding has been the most fulfilling part of my life. I know it's taking great care of my baby's health. It has also helped me lose a lot of weight.
