In this blog I would like to express my thoughts regarding the combination of two different concepts - Social Psychology Vs Social Neuroscience ( Differences & Similarities).

Let's begin….

  • Social psychology is a science of social behavior, the more  emphasis is laid on thought, and feeling as well as behavior of individuals are influenced by actual, imagined, or implied presence of others.
  • While Social neuroscience is the interdisciplinary field determined to the study of neural, hormonal, cellular, and genetic mechanisms dealing with the study of the influences between social and biological levels of organization.
  • Social Psychology seeks to explain about Social perception and social cognition intrapersonal level psychological processes.
  • Social interaction and influence interpersonal and group processes,  both vital aspects of social psychological analyses of behavior.
  • Whereas Social neuroscience studied as a single, overarching paradigm in terms of indentified human behavior and biology.
  • Social psychology is focused on theoretical models that specify conceptual structures as well as processes underlying a variety of social behaviors,
  • Similarly provides information about behavioral paradigms exist that permit the isolation of posited structures.
  • While on the other hand, Social neuroscience is also based on the premise that impart lawful relationships between biological, psychological, and social processes.
  • Kurt Lewin is the founder of Modern Social Psychology whereas Prof. John T. Cacioppo is the founder of the new field of social neuroscience.
  • Social neuroscience is a new, interdisciplinary field determine to study how biological systems implement social processes and behavior.
  •  While sociology is the systematic approach to study the influence of social processes how people think, feel & behave in any social environment.
  • Although Social neuroscience associated with  biological concepts ie  methods to inform that clarifies theories of social behavior thereby it utilise social and behavioral constructs and data to inform. Furthermore clarify theories of neural organization and function.
  •  Whereas the branch of sociology deals with people react by having connect and coming contact with eachother greatly depends on the power of situation.
  • Social psychology focused on the social thinking - dealing with our social issues and reality, powerful and perilous social intuitions of us. Social influence - attitudes shape of our behaviour, and Social relations besed on feeling and actions towards people that may be sometimes positive or negative motifs.
  • Social Neuroscience deals with the cognitive processes that involves within us - perception memory - facial attractiveness, trustworthy, emotional expressions. Action observation - imitation & mirrior neurons. Moral emotions - self control and social reasoning.
  • A person is getting involved with a group of people and build a society is an example of social cognitive neuroscience.
