Return To The Garden City: Part 2

I was glad that I could meet my best friend after 74 weeks and that was one big plus and if not for him, I don't think I would even come to Bangalore. He also plays an prominent role in four years of being in Bangalore and so meeting him was a necessity. The last time we met was on a Saturday and I thought I would meet him on a Saturday itself to meet and chill.

However, he came a day earlier not just to chill but also to return my bags which I left at his custody the time I left Bangalore. And the reason why couldn't meet me with the bags on Saturday was that he was dropping his mother and brother to the airport that very day and so the carrying the bags to and fro could be a task. So we were meeting on both days; Friday for a while and Saturday for half day.

After my work in college, I waited at the dullest place in the city which was my hotel room and didn't have lunch as my friend said that he would be coming in a while and I thought I would eat with him. He came with the bags and after placing them in my room, he parked his scooter at a corner and we walked all around. That was one area we haven't really explored even though we have passed closer. So we walked and talked all that had happened and was happening and we were also looking for a place to sit and talk over tea and maybe a light lunch which took a while as both happened at two separate places.

In that limited time of two hours, we walked and talked and also planned the next day; the Finale which was delayed due to the pandemic. And of course, it wasn't going to be a grand one considering the current circumstances so we planned it within the protocols to make it a memorable one.

Usually it would be a mall where we eat in the food court and maybe watch a movie. But because of the pandemic, the theatres were closed for a while and it reopened even after the second wave but the options were limited and we didn't want to watch any movie just for the sake of the Finale and thought of skipping it.

My friend however convinced me that we could watch Godzilla vs Kong as our last movie together as it's been really long since we watched a movie in theatres. And before that, the movie we watched was the last time I saw him which was 74 weeks ago. I was hesitant initially with the movie but later watched the trailer to prepare myself and thought why not.

I reached the mall after lunch almost an hour before he came as he was just returning from the airport after dropping his mother and brother and I waited outside. After watching our last movie together (in Bangalore) we went to the food court and had an early dinner from different restaurants. He ordered from Shiv Sagar while I ordered from Subway. We talked a lot about the plans we had for future and also reminiscing the fun memories we had in college and how life in Bangalore wasn't dull and boring because we were there for each other. We were certain that we would miss Bangalore but at the same time we didn't want to stay longer there in the city. We talked outside the mall for some more time sharing our plans and aspirations and how we wanted it to be.

The Finale might not be a blockbuster but it was pretty satisfactory considering the pandemic. And there isn't anything about getting emotional when it was time to go because we were glad that we could see each other after so long and we were very certain that it wasn't our last meeting (probably the last meeting in Bangalore but you never know) and that we would still meet.

I am so happy that I got to achieve one of my three major goals for the year i.e., meet my best friend in Bangalore and we are certain that we will meet again. But When? Where? How? Only Time Will  Tell.
