Here we are at the end of what I would like to call; the most happening year of the decades or of the century. This is also my last blogpost of the year. So let's do a quick recap of 2022: Part Two. (For those who haven't read the first part, you have to scroll down till you come across ‘Part One of 2022.’ So here goes.
After a blockbuster First Half, the pressure of making the second half a bigger hit was still there. Mostly in July, it was more of the paperwork for the abroad studies and also my best friend coming over for an interview. We didn't go out much as we thought we would. My main concern was the weather and also my uncle (whose house I was staying) had come so I had to balance my timing between friends and family. It was also exhausting in a way and I was also waiting for a response from the universities where I applied. Also there was no time to lose as the classes start in September. I got some rejections from universities and some weren't available. I wasn't disheartened but I thought I will reapply next year and was wondering how to utilise a whole year which is indeed a long time. And while I was thinking about it, I got an offer letter from where I am currently studying. Yes, I got it. All were happy. My parents were happy. So am I.
August began with slightly stress as there was a lot to do for the admission procedure; the certificates, the payments and so on. So basically, I had to make a run for it. It was quite stressful and when I wanted to relax, I was reprimanded for wasting time. Even though, it all took time, it went smoothly. I also wanted to go to Bangalore one last time but I was told that I could do it after getting the visa but I was certain that I wouldn't get the chance that time and I went towards the end of August for three days. Four was the plan but it was too late. The three days were really good and it went well. The visa processing happened after I arrived so I could relax and enjoy the city with my best friend (I stayed at his place; though I was invited many times by his family.) We returned together by train as he also got selected at an institute in Kerala and worked on that. Again, there was no outing as such because of the weather and we preferred staying indoors.
September was the time we were close to the destination and close to the Finale. The first three days of the month were the last three days with my best friend and we had fun on the very last day which happened out of impulse. We have a thing with movies and make it a point to watch in theatres. Since there weren't any good ones then. We thought of watching some other at home. But there was a re-release and we went with that. (And that is the last time I watched a movie in the theatre.) We always say that this is the Finale even at previous years. But this time, it actually got real. But had the best time. Post that, I was waiting for my visa and then vacate my place to be prepared. I left India four days after I got the visa stamped. I knew there was no time to go anywhere. Bangalore thing would have never happened at that time and I am glad I went in August to say goodbye and experience the city I loved one last time. After reaching the UK, I stayed at my uncle's place for a longer period and was attending classes from there. Accommodation is still pending. It was an overwhelming feeling being the only Indian in the class and also doubting myself.
October kick-started well as I was involved in my classes and I was doubting if I could do well. Foruntately, the responses have been positive and it is not out of kindness but genuine feedback and that makes me good. I don't get to explore much especially at the city where my university. So I make use of it as long as I am here. I don't have company as such but cordial with everyone and it is going good. Be it the train rides to and fro the University, or walking the City Centre, I enjoy the solitude. Also it is quite expensive so you can't afford to be spendthrift.
November is the least happening month compared to the other months of me being here. I had to miss some classes because of the train strikes. Also, it was getting colder and you had to wrap you fully and not just one layer. You can't always go out and sitting inside the room can be frustrating at times. But otherwise, the classes are going fine. There is a lot of work and you have got to keep up with it. Christmas lights are set up early around this time and not in the beginning of December.
December got more colder so it isn't a good idea to go out because of the unpredictable weather and the rain. But I did enjoy some days of it. Such as the last days of class before the break which was fun and interesting (probably because it was the last one.) Also, I went to London (my dream destination) for a day to Winter Wonderland and that was fun though cold. Before coming to the UK, I thought I would visit London once in every month. But it is very expensive so maybe once in three-four months will do. Mainly during Christmas, and my birthday and some other days (have to figure out) It was really nice walking on the streets at night with all the lights; be it in London or the place you are at. Night Life is good but at the same time, you can't keep staying out late. It is hard but I do enjoy the solitude and sometimes I am asked always if something's bothering me when it doesn't. Even my first Christmas in the UK was good too. Having meals together with the family. It would have happened anyways even if I was staying afar. Or else what are you going to do alone for Christmas? And the month ends with me writing this blog and also planning out the next year.
So overall if you ask me, 2022 has been a great year. Sure it has its own hardships and struggles but that is all part of learning process which has to be the hard way and you only learn the hard way. This is the best year I had in a really long time. And I mean it.
So with another year ending, let us take the time to count our blessings and welcome the opportunities for another year end.
Wishing you all a Happy and Amazing 2023.
Get on board. Make the most out of every moment because in the end, it is the journey that matters more than the destination.
