How I Got The Driving Licence

Hey folks, I know it's been a while since I posted something and there wasn't anything in the last week. The reason was being caught up with work and another reason was not able to write or not knowing what to write. It's also the month end and lot of things have to be resolved quickly and the pressure for it is unbearable and it isn't from some external force but all from within.

Well I will talk about that in another blog but for now, let me tell you about how I achieved of the three major goals of 2021; i.e., Getting Driving Licence. I haven't gotten it yet but will be getting in a week. I was supposed to get in July because of the second wave, the tests have been postponed to two-three months delaying it further.

My first test was in September End where I got to try both car as well as two-wheeler. On the day of the trials, I flunked in the two wheelers as I didn't have practice on motorcycle with gear and have practiced without gear. That made so disheartened that I didn't want to attend the test at all. But the instructor said that if I skipped the test, it will take months to get a date and if you fail, you would get a date in two weeks. I was worried about two wheeler knowing that I would fail as I didn't have practice on ‘with gear’ and I was also worried about four wheeler as well. I passed the H Test with no mistakes that gave me a relief. I didn't want to do two wheeler knowing I would fail but I tried and failed and that was fine.

During the Road Test, the instructor asked me to stop after driving for sometime, and I thought four wheeler was also gone and I have to pay the failed fees and take a date for both. It was then I realised that I actually passed in four wheeler and I only had to take test for two wheeler. The former was indeed a surprise and made my day. But the licence wouldn't be issued unless I pass the two wheeler since I applied for both together.

Today was my two wheeler test and I was really freaking out when I did the '8' and I passed and that did give a relief for me as that was the thing that got me in trouble last time. After passing the ‘8’ I was thrilled thinking this was something to share in the blog. During the test, it is usually a commotion in the ground and everybody was freaking out.

But today it was all calm, if not completely but the invigilators and others were really warm and cordial and that was a relief otherwise usually strict and give a cold face.

I was glad I passed ‘8’ in two wheeler but when it came to road test, I couldn't change the gear or should I say, when I tried to change, the vehicle went off and I couldn't start it as the gear wasn't in neutral and it was over. I walked to the inspector and he asked me to come back victorious, the next time. That was so encouraging and sweet but what I did next was something I am not sure if I regret it.

I said I didn't want the licence for motorcycle. It was only my second attempt and I prefer cars more than motorcycles and having licence for both is such a good option. But then I was so mad or in the heat of the moment, and I just couldn't handle it. It was like writing backpapers repeatedly only to fail and no one wanted to go through that process continuously. I am not sure if I regret cancelling the motorcycle licence but then the driving school said that I could do the endorsement once my motor vehicle licence get issued.

So maybe I would take a date for two wheeler again, and if I hadn't cancelled, I wouldn't have to do the '8' again. It is very hard to think when you are upset or so frustrated and it is hard to control your feelings at that heat of the moment. I was feeling a bit upset and now after writing, I am okay I guess.

I will get a date in a month or two and also since I have the licence for the car, I can practice that as well. So it is a win-win situation and it won't delay even more.

So yeah, I have achieved two of my major goals for 2021; one being meeting my best friend in Bangalore and two, being getting the Driving Licence. The third goal is still pending or not executed yet because of some constraints and so it has to be toned down to our convenience. Let's see. That's all for the blog. Thank you so much for reading. I will see you in the next one.
