It's really funny in case of a mango tree, saying "OUCH" while you pluck a mango from it or a carrot crying for "HELP" when you peel it.

If you are a vegetarian or a vegan you must be in a doubt of sacrificing the life of a plant. Unlike animals, plants can not express their feelings ,whether is it right to kill them for our need?

Irrespective of being a non-vegetarian, vegetarian or a vegan In our day to day life ,Starting from our Breakfast till Dinner, a major part our diet consist of plant product. So, undoubtedly we all must have passed through a question that, Do  Plants, Fruits or Vegetables also feel pain while being Cut, Plucked or Peeled ?

The answer is simply NO, Plants don't feel pain. To feel pain a organisms should have Central Nervous System and  Brain. Unlike animals, plants don't  have a central  nervous system or brain. So they dont feel any pain or don't  have any emotion.

Now another question  arises  that , If a plant dont feel pain then, How a sensitive plant closes its leaves when get touched ? and How a Venus Flytrap get closed within fractions of second when any insects enter inside it ? Let's  be clear that plant dont feel pain but they respond to stimuli. Plants have certain  receptors and hormones. The receptors helps the plant to sense external stimuli and act accordingly.

A scientific study has also prooved that plants have defense mechanisms. The study showed When a catterpiller takes a bite from a plant, the plant started releasing amino acid called glutamate , which activate the calcium level throughout the rest of the plant, which triggers the defense mechanism for further dammage. Here It is also a big doubt that, “If they do not feel pain then why do they try to defend it ?” A scientist named Pollan said, “ Plants have many senses simmilar to human like somehow, they can hear, taste ,sense the gravity, sense the presence of water and obstruction in the path of root and act according to that." According to him plants get frightened by hearing the sound of ‘Catterpiller munching on its leaves’ which in terms triggers the defense mechanism in them, But they don't show any actual or physical pain

So, always stay clear that Plant never feel pain while you eat them, But Animals do. So, If you can then please think about them and avoide consuming Animal products like meat and eggs.
