Plastic is making our life comfortable in carrying, storing our food efficient.But are they also making us sick?
It’s been known that very minute particles of plastic get into our food from containers,through plates etc this process is called leaching.The amount is small but leaching of plastic into food has become unavoidable.Heating of food in plastic may also leads to leaching,and also contact with acid,salty, fatty foods increases leaching.
Bisphenol A (BPA) and a class of chemicals called phthalates are under research since long period.BPA is the material which is used in manufacturing of water bottles,cans,linings of canned food.BPA gets into our bloodstream and can disturb hormones in the body especially estrogen ,according to a research.
If you want to reduce exposure to BPA,there are certain steps you can follow:
1.Avoid eating canned foods.Eat food fresh.In addition to avoiding BPA, you can get a good amount of nutrients in our food.
2.Breast feed your baby or use powdered formula instead of using cans.
3.Reduce storing of food in plastic containers in day to day life.
