Hey everyone! how are you all ? hope you all are doing fine. Its been a long time since i talked about any movie. well most of the time i talk about movie that make any difference in the society or stuff that makes you wanna cry. But today i will be talking about a movie that kids can watch too or must i say was made for the kids originally. Slumberland is a movie released in 2022 starring Marlow Barkley (aka nemo) and Jason Momoa (aka flip) and Chris O'Dowd (aka Philip). well just so you know i will be talking about the entire movie, its story line what happens, how it leads to the end and of course the climax of the story. so be sure that there are some spoilers if you ever intend to watch this movie.
the story starts with a little girl called nemo who wakes up from her dream because of a boat honk and quickly gets up to see out of the window to find her dad coming hope with some leaf and goodies for breakfast. nemo seems to enjoy her time in the lighthouse, being homeschooled and being with her dad more importantly. they love playing piano together and cooking together, also talking about different stories. well these stories are actually the stories her father dreamed about when he was a kid but she has no idea of it. one night as her father was to finish the story where a monsters appears they get a call saying that there is a boat which might be in trouble and hence her father had to go for help. she promised him she will be fine. She goes to sleep and finds herself wake in a place where it gets extremely cold and when she opens the door she is in the lighthouse although her father is not there. as she goes out a huge wave destroys the entire lighthouse and she gets trapped in the water whirlpool. then suddenly she finds her dad come for her in the water to save her but as he reaches her a large squid appears from behind and grabs him and takes him away.
the next day she wakes up and finds that her father is dead. Initially i thought that this girl could control her dreams or could for see what will happen next but that isn't the case. according to her fathers will she is supposed to live with her dad's brother Philip who is alone no friends, no family and is a door knob salesman. she dreams of a man searching her lighthouse and he turns out to be flip who her father always talked about. she soon realizes that flip will make it possible for her to see her father again by finding those pearls that are hidden in the sea of nightmare. flip then tells her about the Slumberland and how her father and he would have amazing adventures in their dreams. soon she finds out that flip is Philip her uncle who stopped dreaming as her father was his only friend and he was left alone. and he feared of being alone and this fear is what she also has and hence the nightmare if chasing her all the way to the different doors they open in the slumberland.
I think i have disclosed most of the story and i would like to spare the rest to you all. In all i liked the movie, i liked the concept of it. also the fact that it is just a dream and it wont follow anyone in the walking world is a myth, well at least according to the movie.
