A month ago I went out on a little adventure with my pack which gave me excitement as well as fear. But what is life without some fear isn't it?
To start with let me tell you how in less time we all planned and actually set our foots towards our journey. A night earlier a friend found this adventure page on Instagram, they are a group of boys who have apparently trekked a lot and also have a certification int he same area. They also have a certification in rock climbing and rappelling. This excited the friend and he got all of us on the phone late at 12 in the night just to get us all agree to this adventure.
8 year long friendship and how could he not have persuaded all of us to go to this adventure. With no clue of exactly what is going to happen other than the fact that we have to get up at five in the morning and start walking towards our destination. The very next day we all collected money, paid the bill and got our safety lines reserved for this trek. The very evening we were on our way to Pune, which is where we were told the location to the trek spot will be. But. Yes there is always a but, the location was way beyond Lonavala, or near Lonavala can't really tell as it was 3 in the night. Reached the place and slept in the resting room they provided us and were up at 6, they had mercy on us.
The main Adventure: We walked approximately a kilometer or two, and reached the base point which is were we realized the thing is yet to be reached. The base it self was so high we, or i will just speak for my self, I started thinking that this might have been a bad idea, there was yet some more to walk.
I forgot to mention the almost amount of attention these guys paid on our safety and the very less amount of instructions were given to us just not to scare us, or i think they assumed that we were well prepared to what are going to face that day. But as the friend kept it a surprise, i wouldn't have had it any other way.
After our first climb we got to know the other members who wanted to climb as well and we introduced ourselves as well. We were then to climb up and above near a temple was were we all were again given instructions about how to start with our climbing with the help of mere our legs, upper body strength and the rope. We as a group decided to climb at the end as we were rookies and we will learn something from looking at the other ones and we off course thing that this was our very first mistake.
The first climb was good for me, i could find my way up the mountain i also got an excellent from one of the instructors but got scolded for resting my knee at one end but it was okay, i met my other members in the midst. And then continued. So there was another climb which apparently was the most difficult as it was plain stone and hence had place to keep our foot or hand to climb up. Many came back down as they were able to but other than one member we all climbed it in our very first attempt and then went up again which was just a walk but to the edge of the mountain so was not into any place to take a risk of just moving around.
Finally after we completed our summit, sat in the shadow of some trees there, had something to eat it was already 2 in the afternoon but i think it was our luck that the weather was so good there was no sigh of scorching sunlight or heat for that matter. Climbing up a mountain is up to your choice but once you climb up it is a necessity to come down. And this was THE most difficult part of this entire trek.
Rappelling is quite difficult for a first timer, i don't want to scare you all but if you climb a mountain which has no curves or turns and is just straight up and when you are trying to come down the only thing you can see is Death (well at least it was for me). So there were three places where we were supposed to rappel ourselves down, the first one being the most difficult for me, because for some reason i just didn't wanted to get up and so i couldn't do it and started walking down with the assistance of my friend. Now you might say rappelling is same as walking but imagine a girl, scared to her death and resists to stand and with the help of her lower body pushing her entire body down;) it was a very funny side. But let me proudly tell you that the other two were very easy for me, i did not get scared in fact i got a very good remark from the instructor which none of my friends received other than one.
Now that i have talked so much about it let me disclose the name of the place we went to. Its called TAIL-BAILA, do not know why it was named what it was or why is it called what it is. We were just trying to get ourselves back home alive.
Thankyou🌄
