Indias Relationshipwith Armenia And Why Is It Recently In News

India is supplying weapons to Armenia was in the recent news. More specifically India is supplying rockets, missiles and ammunitions that is purely made in India. In this blog i will try to point out benefits of this or the disadvantages of this agreement.

Armenia is a Landlocked country. It is surrounded by

  • North - Georgia
  • South - Iran
  • East - Azerbaijan
  • West - Turkey

There is an autonomous region of Azerbaijan called Nakhichevan (AZ). {Autonomous region is an area which has its own government}.  There is a very small region of Nakhichevan that also shares its border with turkey. That region is the trisection of Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan. And this is why Turkey supports Azerbaijan and not Armenia. Nagorno-Karabakh is a disputed territory but all of it is in control of Armenia but internationally it is recognized as Azerbaijan's territory. One thing we need to know is that, Azerbaijan is supported by Turkey and Armenia has the support of Russia.

Recently both the countries got into a clash along the borders where both the countries reported nearly 100 troop deaths. Because of this escalation India and Armenia have signed a defence deal where india will provide Armenia Rs 2000 cr worth weapons.  This deal includes

  • Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers -  these are developed by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for the Indian Army. It is an artillery missile system capable of striking into enemy territory up to a range of 75 kilometers with high precision. there are a total of 72 rockets. The system can fire a salvo of 12 rockets in 44 seconds. Also it is guided missile.
  • Helina anti tank guided missile - HELINA (Helicopter-launched Nag) is air-launched version of the Nag with extended range. It is launched from twin-tube stub wing-mounted launchers on board HAL Rudra helicopters and HAL Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
  • Wide range of ammunition.

In 2020 India supplied 4 Swati radars - worth 350 crores. These radars are used to track incoming artillery shells, mortars and rockets. And give the accurate position of enemy launchers and positions.

this way i tried to explain the recent news around the world and how it will affect India in every way.  Not just international relations but this is very helpful economically considering we put most amount of money in defence. The more such deals , India gets more money to invest into defence but via these money transactions and the money of tax payers can be used for some other resources.

thankyou🌼
