My pet name is Maya, as I said it's a Pigeon. When I got, it is too small like a baby now she grown up very well. Sometimes they will be a good partner to us…
Amazing things about the Pegions:
a) Animals like pigeons are very sophisticated and intelligent. They are one of a select few animals that can successfully complete the self-recognition test known as the "mirror test." Additionally, they are able to recognise every letter of the human alphabet, recognise one photo from another, and even recognise various people in the same picture.
b) Pigeons are well known for having excellent navigational skills. They employ a variety of techniques, including an internal "magnetic compass" and the sun as a guide. According to a study done at Oxford University, they would also move along man-made roads and motorways, changing lanes at intersections, and use landmarks as signposts.
c) Pigeons are very social creatures. They are frequently observed in groups of 20–30 birds.
d) Pigeons typically nurture two chicks at once and have lifelong partners.
The care and rearing of young is a shared duty between male and female pigeons. The chicks are fed "pigeon milk," an unique secretion from the lining of the crop that is produced by both sexes, and both sexes alternate incubating the eggs.
e) Pegions have exceptional hearing. They are able to hear faraway storms and volcanoes because they can hear sounds at much lower frequencies than humans can.
f) Pigeons are essentially relatively clean animals, and there is very little evidence to imply that they are substantial disease transmitters, despite the social assumption that they are filthy and disease-ridden.
g) For thousands of years, pigeons and humans have coexisted in close proximity. This was originally recorded in Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq, in the year 3000 BC.
h) Although some people view pigeon droppings as a problem in contemporary society, pigeon guano was once thought to be of great value. Armed guards would even station themselves by dovecotes (pigeon houses) to prevent others from collecting the droppings because it was thought to be the best fertiliser on the market.
i) Pigeons can fly at speeds of 77.6 mph and altitudes of up to and above 6000 ft. 92.5 mph is the highest recorded speed.
Many followers of various religions, including Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs, feed pigeons for meditative purposes. In remembrance of Guru Gobind Singh, a high priest who was noted for being friendly to pigeons, some older Sikhs will ceremoniously feed them.
