Fomo And Jomo From Recovery Point Of View

this would be the third day of my internship where in like everyday now i first say hi and good morning to anyone i see in the hospital and then join the first session with the inmates. this session sir talked about FOMO and JOMO. Fear of missing out or FOMO is one term that has been used lately and was quite in trend. FOMO is basically a feeling or a state where someone feels that they are missing out on something important and that gives them fear.

For any addict one fear that they will always have and do have is the missing out on drinking or consumption of any kind of drug. The fears that they have is of course the fear that their friends are having fun and that they are stuck here. They also feel that i could have had a good time with my drink and myself but i cant do that anymore. This very fear makes them urge more for the drugs.

The other interesting term that also made headlines was JOMO or the joy of missing out. This comes when addicts come for recovery and they soon began to realize that they are in a place where they are not supposed to be in the first place. They realize their mistakes and also they realize their responsibilities towards their loved one's. They realize that they should be more interested n their financial progress and a progress in their personality which would then make their life and other people's life around them easy and good.

The joy of missing out happens when the development of happiness happens which is quite important for a normal person too. To develop happiness in themselves they should start talking, be interactive about absolutely anything that excites them that their heart desires to share, be it sports, food, novels, movies anything other than politics because their is no happiness that comes with politics rather it might anger them or make them sad and allow them to think about alcohol. Meeting people who give them a sense of responsibility that they have to look for after they leave the rehab center. Read a novel or making new friends or may be just dancing or singing to the favorite tune can give someone happiness then it would do wonders with an inmate. These activities will eventually activate the dopamine in the brain which a happiness hormone.

This was one session that made me believe that being happy is just not necessary for people who are sick or some one who is sad rather it is necessary for everyone no matter the age, gender or place they come from. Hope reading this makes you do something that you love and makes you happy.

Thankyou🌼
