Abraham Lincoln once said that democracy is for the people, by the people, and of the people. Today the most common form of democracy practiced all over the world is the representative democracy in which the people select their leaders or their representatives who on their behave make decisions, form laws, bring progress to the country under different schemes and relationships with foreign entities and more.

As we are Indians, lets talk about the Gandhian Democracy. This concept is about self rule, which means swaraj which is the real power which rests in the individuals and they realize it too. IN 1931, in the Karachi session it was first felt that a Democratic society should be formed in India. That involves not jut the formal holding of elections but agree on having a genuine democratic representatives. The makers of the constitution were inspired by three principles of social equality, political justice and high legal autonomy. After the Independence the Indians decided to have democratic elections, political systems, which are characterized by the economic agents, the political agents being free from political influence. Competitions made in various orders not just integrates them but also helps them from getting endangered.

Us Indians, we have some fundamental rights with some fundamental duties the we have to perform as a citizen of this country. We have the freedom of expression and of opinion, the freedom to oppose the government if we think so as we are the one's who have a choice to the government. The rights of minorities are also protected in the fundamental rights. We also have a right to old several popular and religious beliefs.

India is known as the largest democracy in the world. And at the time of our independence the government gave us the Constitution. Under our constitution, there were 395 articles, 22 parts and 8 schedules and now we have 470 articles which are grouped in 25 parts with 12 schedules and five appendices. As of 2021 there have been 105 amendments in the Indian constitution since it was first enacted in 1950. The Indian constitution also gives us our Preamble which was enacted on 26 November 1949. The preamble also talks about the different freedoms and our duties as a citizen of this country.

In 2019 India ranked 129th in around 193 countries in UN Human Development Index. This shows the amount of democracy we have been given, we might not be at a highest rank but that is how it is as we are one of the high ranking nations in terms of population, there has to be some rules to control this large population. Democracy in India is something precious, it is a gift of our patriotic national leaders and something that not many have. We must realize and appreciate the great value of hat we have been given.

Thankyou🌼
