Hey All,

Recently, I read this very intriguing thing somewhere and couldn’t just stop myself from writing about it. So, I chose to write about it because I truly believe that the following given notions are what a girl is expected to be, irrespective of her identity, her habits, her choice. 

There is this typical stereotype that a housewife or a to be housewife must be these all things and not if all, at least some of them as the other side then has to adjust with us for being ourselves.  Though I agree that things have changed but when I read the following parameters I feel as if nothing much has changed. For instance a girl is surely asked-

• KNOWS HOW TO COOK- 99%  Well, I think that it’s a big taboo for almost all the girls who are going to be married soon as it comes under many of their duties to at the least know how to cook and feed their family.
• EXPRESSES HER FEELINGS- 10% [SHOULD SPEAK ONLY WHEN GET ASKED] Yes, it even happens at our own homes too. We are told to keep quiet and speak only when we are told to do so because a girl child can never be smart and witty to take part in even her own life decisions. She has no right to talk or to even suggest something she thinks could be beneficial for the family.
• SELF ESTEEM- 25% [ SHE SHOULD ASK PERMISSION FOR EVERYTHING AND KEEP DOUBTING HER DECISION]
• EDUCATED- 75% [ ENOUGH TO GET MARRIED BUT NOT TO KNOW HER RIGHTS]
• FRAGILE- 50% [ ALWAYS HAS A TAG OF AN ABLA NARI]
• TEARS- 85% [ BUT KNOW HOW TO HIDE IT WELL]
• GOOD LISTENER- 90% [ WHO LISTENS BUT NEVER QUESTIONS]
• FAIR AND SLIM- 95% [ COLOUR CANNNOT BE NEGOTIATED]
• HOUSEWIFE- 100% [KNOWS HOW TO BE A HOUSEWIFE EVEN WHEN SHE’S WORKING FULL TIME. MANAGE HOME, HUSBAND, AND CAREER ALL AT ONCE.]

And such are the notions that our society carries forward with great pride and honor. As since the time being women have been objectified and never for once their feelings and emotions have been taken in consideration. 

Ergo, it’s high time we change these typical, rigid mind sets and set norms by letting women choose for themselves and speak-up for themselves. That day they will learn to fight their fights and will eventually grow.
