Today I am going to talk about something different. This blog is basically a book review on a book I read, named ‘Pride and Prejudice’ by the well known author of 19th century ‘Jane Austen’. There are many major and minor characters in the book. So, let's get acquainted with them first. After all, they are the one who are the carriers of the plot. Ergo it's important to know them and their respective roles that they play in the story. So their names are listed below-
Elizabeth Bennet- Female protagonist
Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy- Male protagonist
Mr. Bennet
Mrs. Bennet
Jane Bennet
Mary Bennet
Catherine Bennet [Kitty]
Charles Bingley- Love interest of Jane Bennet
Caroline Bingley- Sister of Charles Bingley
George Wickham
Mr. William Collins- Cousin of Bennet sisters
Lady Catherine De Bourgh
Mr. Edward Gardiner and Mrs. Gardiner- Relatives of Bennet's
Georgiana Darcy- Sister of Darcy
Charlotte Lucas- Friend of Elizabeth
Colonel Fitzwilliam And yes I know there are just too many characters in the story but that's one of the reasons behind it's success and popularity. They all together make the plot intriguing and quirky. Each one of them has a role to play and they all contribute to the plot in their own ways. Now there are some vital themes around which the plot of the story revolves. They are-
Pride
Prejudice
Class
Reputation
Family
Marriage So, the novel basically reflects upon the pride and prejudice that both the leads of the story possess and which also disables them to cherish the moments they are or stops them from acknowledging their true feelings. Though these two traits are seen in every character but these two elements blind the protagonists on an another level as they purely rule their minds and hearts. So one can even say that the story enlightens the readers about the fights and hurdles that one has to come across and at times these problems not only comes from the exterior sources but from one's self too. We have to fight ourselves to overcome our weaknesses or orthodox mindset. Like Elizabeth has to fight her prejudice to accept and learn from not only what she believes is true but also from the things her prejudice never lets her see. The same goes with Darcy as his pride never lets him see people or judge them above their rank or status in the society. Thank You.
