Hey younger self, 

I think you ought to know that not all things told or said to you are compliments. I wish you knew them earlier but no worries. So some of them are- 

• I love how you just don’t care what you look like- It is indubitably not a compliment because one must care what they look like and this should not be done to impress the people around you but it must be done for yourself. When you look nice, the vibe around you naturally changes, your mien should be such that you attract positive energy around you. And of course, everyone tries to at least put up something or the other to look good. So, nobody can comment on this and you should never take it as a compliment. Everyone has their different ways of getting organized and presentable. 
• You look great for your age – No, this is not a compliment that one may make. Never let age define you and likewise don’t let anyone judge you on the basis of it. You look great because you maintain yourself irrespective of your age. Don’t let it limit you.
• You’re so great. Why are you still single? Being great doesn’t always attract people. For being in a relationship you seek compatibility, understanding, nature and hence there are several traits that one looks out for in their spouse. So, being great is definitely something but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to be having a partner too. Such things can’t be planed or can’t be based on any one single element. So, take your time and never rush such things as the saying also goes ‘Good things take time.’
• For a girl, you are good at gaming- Why do we need to define such things too. Now gaming is also a thing that only boys are good at. Why can’t girls be good at it too? Why do we also have to set these stereotypes and gender constructs in everything? Today there is no field or sphere where women are not there or are not at par with men. All they need is recognition and the destruction of these societal norms and thinking.  If a girl wants, she can be good at anything she desires. So, don’t ever make this mistake of taking a woman or a girl for granted because if she chooses to outrun you, she can do that too.
