Hush Hush Thing- Don't Speak [2]

Hey all,

In my last blog, I talked about some things being taboo in this orthodox patriarchal society. So, some more things can be-

  • Girls not talking to boys of their school- It might seem stupid or of menial concern but it is a thing that girls usually face in their school days and even parents are okay with the fact or let’s say glad that their daughters carry such behaviour as they find it great for their future. But instead not talking to boys should be taboo as such attitude makes girls shy, anxious and they feel hesitant to even interact with a boy. There is nothing wrong with conversing or even hanging out with boys. In fact, it widens your mindset and broadens your sphere of knowledge too.
  • Being in a loveless marriage for a lifetime- It’s not important to carry forward with the only marriage that you did in your life or there is no hard and fast rule or law like such. What’s important is that the two people in the marriage should be happy with each other’s company and are glad to be together. Walking out is an option for both and it should be accepted too. A loveless marriage is nothing. And having a child on top of it makes everything worse than it was as in most cases people tend to inflict the baggage or burden of their failed marriage on their children or provoke children against each other. the child might have to go through that trauma and the mental health of the child might get affected too which will go forward with him for his/her entire lifetime or he might feel that such things are natural and he might also carry forward the same attitude that his parents had.
  • Mocking mental illness- Earlier, people thought of mental illness as madness but today the times have changed and people have started acknowledging the fact that it is not madness or some kind of disease but is a state or something like depression that a person goes through. It can be treated but mocking it or making fun of it should not be done. A person in such a state already goes through many traumas and struggles inertly too. So, instead of mocking one should be empathetic towards others and should sympathize with the person too.

Thank you
