Shocked by this audacious plan and Oogway's demise, Po tries to flee, but Shifu stops him. When Shifu questions Po about his decision to stay, Po replies that he detested who he was and that, in spite of Shifu's severe treatment, he still had faith in Shifu's ability to transform him. After that, Po forces Shifu to acknowledge that he has no idea how to teach him to become the Dragon Warrior. After learning of this, Tigress rallies the Five to launch a covert operation to stop Tai Lung.

In the meantime, Shifu learns that Po can perform amazing physical feats when driven by food, and he teaches Po successfully by fusing these feats with an original Kung Fu technique. The Furious Five battle Tai Lung, but in the end, he uses his nerve-strike method to beat them; as a warning, only Crane returns with the remaining group to the valley.

Shifu determines that Po is prepared to receive the Dragon Scroll upon his return. Po finds the scroll to be nothing more than a mirrored surface that is blank when he opens it. Perceiving the Scroll to be powerless, Shifu orders Po and the Five to evacuate the Valley's occupants while he confronts Tai Lung by himself in order to aid everyone else in escaping. In an attempt to comfort a distressed Po, Mr. Ping admits that there is no secret ingredient in his "secret ingredient soup," adding that anything can become extraordinary with belief.

When Po realizes this is the Dragon Scroll's message, he hurries back to assist Shifu. After Tai Lung mercilessly vanquishes Shifu at the Jade Palace, he finds the Scroll missing. When Po shows there with the Scroll, he saves Shifu's life and they start fighting. Po turns out to be a tough opponent, confounding Tai Lung with his baffling combat methods. When Tai Lung finally gets the Scroll, he doesn't understand why it's blank on the surface. Tai Lung uses his nerve-wracking tactic to try to vent his displeasure on Po. But Tai Lung finds that Po is not affected by this. Using a technique he taught himself, the Wuxi Finger Hold, Po subdues Tai Lung and sends him to the Spirit Realm. Po feels appreciated by the Valley and unwinds.with Shifu back to normal.
