I heard or read this story a long time ago. King Akbar asked Birbal, ‘tell me one sentence that we can say in happiness as well as in grief". Birbal replied, “This too shall pass”. This is so true and applies even today in this 21st century. Everything on this planet is temporary. It is a wheel of time that rotates continuously without stopping and so the wheel of happiness and sorrows. Everyone's life has its own destiny. Everyone has his/her own karmic account that pays off.
Since ancient times this planet earth has seen many storms coming and going. Be it wars or natural disasters or any personal tragedy. Everything has ended after some time. Today is this pandemic which is bound to end sometime. We only have to be patient and courageous. This is the time when we need to be positive and spread positivity.
So, instead of complaining when this will end, why not affirm this one amazing sentence, ‘ this too shall pass ’. This one sentence keeps us stable in every situation. Do not get overwhelmed in happiness nor get depressed by any problem or adversity. Because the cycle of happiness and sorrow continues nonstop. If we learn to just watch at every situation with aloofness and remind ourselves that this is temporary and will vanish soon, we will develop our mental power. We can control our emotions.
Just think about how nature also has blessed us with changing seasons. Had it been only rain or only summer or only winter throughout the year would we be able to enjoy it? No. Because change is the only certain thing and that's what keeps our lives going. If staying at home makes you bored then think of it as just a matter of few days and come up with some innovative ideas to use this time productively.
Sometimes looking at other people's pains and sorrows we realize how blessed and lucky we are. There are many people who have lost their loved ones and incurred a huge loss but still, they are living with the hope that this will end soon, and again we will start living a happy and healthy life. Optimism is the thing that helps us move on.
I know this is a challenge for all of us. But we will get through it soon and will restart our lives with new enthusiasm and more energy. This too shall pass! :-)
