Music is an amazing stress buster if you really listen to it all heartedly. I love to listen to songs that are silent or motivational. I know there are many music apps and sites on the internet to listen to your favorite songs and music. But I prefer listening to the songs on the Vividhbharati channel of radio. You get a variety of songs at different time slots. ‘Madhumalati', ‘Geet gata chal’, ‘Chhayageet’, ‘Aap ki farmaish’, ‘Bela ke phool’ etc. are some of my favorite programs that play old Bollywood songs.
The more interesting thing that I like is you don't have any idea what song will be played next. So it builds a bit of curiosity in our minds. The announcer talks about the song or its info like singers, musicians, film, and lyricists. Guessing the song from this announcement is an interesting game for me. And most of the time my guess of the song comes out to be correct!
You won't believe it but many times this radio channel has been playing the role of my best friend. Because, whenever I feel low or upset and suddenly some inspirational song plays on the radio, that completely changes my mood and attitude. I remember those days when I was very upset as I was not getting a good job after passing out. And one day, I heard this song: ‘ Jeevan chalne ka naam, Chalte raho subah shyam '
And believe me, my attitude changed by hearing this song. I started applying for a job with a more positive attitude and confidence. Ultimately, I got a job.
I have been listening to the radio since my childhood when there were no FM channels. Some informational, spiritual, and entertaining programs were making our lives so energetic.
One more benefit was that you can listen to it while doing your work. When I was in school or college I was doing my studies with the radio playing in the background. It was helping me concentrating on my studies. (I know this sounds weird but it's my own experience)
Listening to the old Hindi songs made my songs database so strong that no one could ever defeat me in playing Antakshari! :P Well jokes apart, but I am really benefitted from this radio channel Vividhbharati. It has a big contribution in keeping my mental health at an optimum.
