Helllooo people, once again welcome to my blog. Hope y'all are doing great. So, my today's blog is about an American supernatural horror film named “The Exorcist” directed by William Friedkin and produced by William Peter Blatty. This movie is based on a novel written in 1971 with the same name. This novel was written by the producer of this film William. This movie was released in 1973 in about 24 theatres in the United States and Canada. This film is the first installment of the exorcist series. On box office this movie has earned an amount of 441.3 million dollars.

So, the movie starts with a scene a catholic priest is on an archaeological dig in the ancient city of Iraq. While digging he finds a sculpture of Pazazu, who is a demon of ancient origins. This scene cuts here and we move to another scene where it shows an actress ( Chris ) who is living with her 12 year old daughter Regan. Chris is a divorced women who lives with her daughter alone. One day at home Chris finds a Quija board in her daughter's room and she asks her daughter about it where Regan tells chris that she plays the board with her imaginary friend whom she calls captain howdy. And soon all strange things happen with Regan. She starts to act strangely. But the strange habits of Regan doesn't bothers her mother at all. The very next day Chris hosts a party at her house and during the party Regan comes down and in a very deep voice she tells on of her mother's guest that he will die up there and goes away. During that night Regan's bed starts to shake and Regan get's scared and disturbed because of it. Her mother contacts many doctors and they all take a few tests of Regan. Upon the results, they find nothing wrong with her and they decide to shift her to a mental asylum for which of course her mother doesn't agree upon it. Later in the scenes we see that at midnight Regan is hurting herself with a knife on the bed and is fully surrounded with blood and when her mother sees all this, she gets shocked to see her daughter in this state. Here, we get to know that Regan was possessed by a very powerful demon Pazuza. Chris calls up two priests to free her daughter from the possession of this demon. Both the priests get's permission to perform an exorcism on her and while doing it one priest dies due to heart attack. Then the demon enters the body of the second priest and the priest sacrifice himself and jumps from the room's window and dies. Here, Regan is also out of possession and is completely fine and she moves to Los Angeles with her mother.
